Progress with sleep issues, maybe.
Well we are making some progress on the sleep issue with Garret. Here are a few things that I think might be causing some of his sleep problems.
1. He wants someone with him. Solution-I put a mirror that hangs at a slant so he can see himself and he thinks that another baby is with him.
2. He does not like to be in the dark. Solution-His bedroom lights dim, so I will leave them on low all night long. (I would just put a nightlight in his room, but all of the plugs have stuff blocking them, so you cannot see the nightlight and I feel like it is a fire hazard if I leave a lamp on all night long.)
3. He is beginning to be ready not to be swaddled. Solution- I wrap him up and he gets his arms out, but the rest of his body is still wrapped up. (I have tried to put him in his crib without being swaddled and he will not go to sleep this way, during the day or night.)
4. He needs some noise while he is sleeping. (Kayleigh did when she was a baby.) Solution-His lights make a buzzing sound. If the buzzing sound is not enough I will put a cd on repeat all night long, which is what we did with Kayleigh.
So I have tried all of these things during the day and his last nap of the evening. I also just put him in his crib for the night and it seems to be working. He has not fallen asleep for the night in his room in a few weeks. Well maybe a night here or there, but not on a regular basis. I have tried to put him in his crib to fall asleep on his own every night, but lately he has started screaming before I get out of his door. I REALLY hope this works. Last night he was still WIDE awake at midnight, which meant I was still awake. He did only partially wake up 2 times last night, so maybe he is feeling better and the stuff above will work. He did nap very well today and yesterday he did not nap well at all.
*I just checked on him and he is sound asleep. His arms are still in the blanket, but his hands are by his face and his pacifier is still in his mouth.
I will update you all tomorrow as to how the night went. Hopefully I can say he slept all night long. That would be wonderful!
The top two pictures are from last night around 10:30pm. Doesn't he look tired?

The bottom two pictures are from one of his naps today. In the top picture you can see how the mirror is angled down so he can see himself.

Amy...have you tried a little fan for white noise? We use one with both the boys....just a table top fan for like $10 from Target and it did wonders for blocking out noise and getting them to sleep. Only problem is, they are now dependent on it and can't sleep without fan noise....but I'm the same way!!!
Also, there's a great book called American Pediatrics Guide to your Childs Sleep....you can probably get it for less than a dollar on Amazon.com. It was a great read and I learned a lot about their sleep cycles.
And p.s.....I'm still working on your email about cameras/carseats. Once I get going, I can't stop and I've rewritten it about 10 times now...LOL!!! Those are two things I'm passionate about, so you can imagine.....
Take care and we're been thinking about you and hope things are going well...

Amy,
Don't have much time because of the NCOA, but static on the radio has worked pretty well for us with Aidan. He's actually slept through the night for a few nights in the past week. I'll try to write more later, but I have to get back to class.
