A new school for 1st Grade

Most of you know that we do not like the school that Kayleigh is currently attending. We do not feel that she is getting what she needs from her teacher or the school in general. She has regressed with many things over the school year and it is very frustrating for both of us as her parents.

A new charter school is opening up about 7 1/2 miles from our house. We found out at the end of last week that Kayleigh has a spot for next year. We are very excited that she will be able to attend this school next year. The focus for the school is technology which we think will be a great addition to her educational background. We hope that she will be able to have a great experience at Quest Academy until we PCS from here.

We will have to take her to school and pick her up, but we already have to do that now. The downfall is that I will no longer be able to walk her to school or walk to pick her up. :(

The other big change for her is that they will have to wear uniforms. They have to wear a white, navy, or red shirt with a collar and navy or khaki bottoms. She can wear pants, shorts, skorts, capri pants, or a jumper. So she will still have some variety to pick from.

Here is a link to the schools website. A lot of the pages still say coming soon since the school will not open until the fall, but it still has a lot of information on the website.

  • One of my dental hygiene patients founded a charter school and from all that she told me, they sound fantastic. I also saw a very impressive news story about them. I think uniforms are great because they are one way of making LO's realize that everyone is equal. Your family is beautiful. I love the slide show pics!

  • Amy...
Kylie (Tim and Kate's daughter) goes to a Charter school in Panama City and they LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! She is so far ahead in math and science than the public school and I think it's great; in fact, she just got an award from Duke University and is on their "Hot Young Kids to Watch" report.
Congrats on getting Kayleigh in; if we had one here, I would send the boys in a HEARTBEAT!!!!
